Well, merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!
I hacked up a neat-o Windows installation program.
It will replace the complete archive.
The uninstall works pretty well too!
I am not sure if I will do this with the new version or not, but it's pretty slick.
Try it out, and tell me if it sucks.
Enjoy the holiday season, and stay safe.

No, I'm not dead.
Just busy.
I did get moved and I am still unpacking stuff.
New version is progressing.
It will be released on schedule.
This version is going to be mainly as a hack.
It is a Slackware 3.6 UMSDOS install with some tweaking.
The next version will be much better, and much more work will go into it.
Look for the new release soon.
Unfortunatley it is a little bit bigger installed (35MB on my 16k cluster FAT16 partition!!) right now.
This will be fixed and better.
Look for vast improvements in 0.8.
Enjoy 0.7, and let me know what you think of the cheap hack. :)

Moving is such a pain.
Read: Disaster waiting to happen.
But the good news is that I did get some work on the new version of DragonLinux.
Currently it is approximately 35MB installed, but it still compresses to 8 disks. :)
I am working to make it smaller.
I did remove VI, joe, and jed.
Using jove as a text editor.
(Jove is a tiny EMACS-like editor. I like EMACS, except that it's huge, so jove is in.)
There is a teachjove program that is included to teach you how to use it.
(Another plus.)
I figured that if a lot of "newbies" are running my distro (which alot of users are, not to insult anyone) they can actually learn how to use their new editor interactivly.
(This is good because VI can be very cryptic/confusing/disconcerting for new users.)
PPP setup is included.
Networking, TCP/IP, etc. is included.
Lynx is installed.
Midnight Commander is back.
Thinking of using an alternate documentation other than man pages because GROFF (the program that formats their output) is like 3.5mb or so.
Haven't figured out what I am going to do with that.
X should be a breeze to install.
(Well, it should install more like a "normal" distribution should.
As soon as I get some more things worked out, (ie putting back in the modifications neccessary to use the Windows swap file) and after some more tweaking, it should be released.

My move has gone pretty smoothly.
I have most of my stuff moved, but still have some packing to do.
Haven't got the computer hooked up yet.
(The horror!)
I should be ready to start the new version development this week as planned.
Then the fun begins.
Cablemodem is supposed to be avaliable in my area.
I hope that I can take advantage of a geat holiday rate to get hooked up.
Due to issues relating to my employment, I may not anwser all of my E-Mail immediately.
When I get net access at home I will be able to check my E-Mail every night.
I really really want to get this new version out before the end of the year.
It should be much improved.
I do have a roadmap of sorts on paper.
When you see the new version, I think you will be impressed.
I hope so anyway. :)

Been very busy.
Sorry I haven't updated the news lately.
I recently lost the floppy drive on my system, so there will be no updates for a short while.
Work will begin on new release this week or next, depending on how my move goes.
I am tempted not to include RPM in the next release.
Slackware's tools are just as effecient if you know what you are doing.
There is a Mini-HOWTO on how to install RPM if you really need it.
To have the RPM database up properly updated would require some packages that are rather large, and make DraognLinux much larger.
Of course, I want to avoid this.
I still plan to have the new release out by New Years.
You know what they say about release dates.
