I finally got a monitor for my PC last night. There are improvements in the install program. I have uploaded the new version. Let me know what you think.

I made a frames version of this webpage and put it here. I doubt it will get updated as often as the basic site. Maybe it will help relieve some of the traffic concerns, however.

I hope to get some work done on DragonLinux tonight. I may just snap what I have and put it up for version 0.7. Midnight Commander has been put back in, and I plan to update many of the componets. I also want to get rid of Joe. (Mainly beacuse I lost a lot of work because of it) I will do at least one attempt at using Slackware 3.6 as a base and start over fresh. RPM Database should be more up to date when I am done. (I hope)

New Linux kernel was released today. I'm going to have to put it in the new version of DragonLinux. New install program isn't quite ready yet. I will also probbably add a links section to the web page soon. I am going to have no time to work on DragonLinux for a while. My latest housing application was turned down. (Doh!) Hopefully I can find a place and get situated (with net access even) so work can continue.

Worked more on install program. In my testing I have getting alot of SmartDrive errors. Because of this I am removing SmartDrive routines out of the install program. I am also making box drawing subs to make it easier to change if neccessary. (Hey, I like my little QuickBasic program, ok?) As far as actual work on the project, I am taking a look at Slackware 3.6. I am thinking that I am going to get a few .tar.gz files for the 'skeleton'. Then I will run something (a shell script?) to install the rest via RPM. This is so that the RPM database will reflect the libs actually installed. This should make installation of software on DragonLinux much easier in the long run. Oh, and then won't it install just like a normal distribution? Well, not at first. DragonLinux will be a snapshot release at least until version 1.0. Probbably much later than that. Now I just need to get it working. :)

More testing is being done on installation program. Source code will be released under GPL when it is in a more stable state. Looking at other options for compressing of archive. (The biggest issue is that RAR/SFX doesn't have a force overwrite command line option) Also still looking at different web page options.

Since yesterday was my day off, I took some time to write an installation program for DragonLinux. Pretty basic. In fact, it's written in Quick Basic. It's a compiled EXE. It needs DOS 6 or Win95 to work properly. Use it at your own risk. Currently it deletes the existing LINUX directory on the destination drive. You have been warned. :) Enjoy.

Site has been totally revamped. I should be happy with this layout. (I hope so) Added some things to the support page. The biggest one of note, is DragonHelp Online. It is the same documents that will be included as part of the DragonHelp system. A coupld of links do not work. This is expected. Work is being done on the distro (like updating shadow-utils) bit by bit. I will have the new release out by New Year's. Maybe sooner. Enjoy the new look.

Redesigned site layout. The previous layout just didn't make enough sense for this site. Now you can actually figure out where you are going without getting lost! Worked on updating documentation for DragonLinux. Looked at the work involved with integrating Debian into this release. At this time it is not feasible to do so. Perhaps sometime in the future, we can integrate some of Debian's features (dselect for example).

Life has suddenly got very interesting for me. I will not be able to work on DragonLinux much for the rest of the month. I am moving on Nov. 30th, and there are a lot of things that need to get taken care of. I apologize for the inconvience. I changed the layout of the news page today, and moved some of the older news to the bottom os this page. My current plan for DragonLinux has canged somewhat. I have talked with the Debian group, and they are willing to accept code from us for a UMSDOS or UVFAT installation. This would effectivly reduce the need for this project. I have decided not to do this. (See above news) This project is a seprate Linux project, and will remain that way.
